My Own Mind Scares Me

My own mind scares me
It forces me to face
The tendriled monsters of suspicion
Lurking in every corner

"Can monsters hurt you anyway,
If you don't believe in them?"
Or maybe they were there all along
You were just foolishly blind

Ignorance is bliss,
But only blissful for those
Creatures which come out
To devour you in your slumber

My own mind scares me
It forces me to plant
And think the worst of
The monsters under my bed
And cower in the middle of my island
